Katalyst has had the best release of 2009 no doubt especially when you consider that it's his debut. I've chopped it up with him a bit through email as well and went to his album release concert and can say that he's an awesome guy devoted to serving the Lord and knows how to rock a show.
As for D-M.A.U.B. I can't believe he didn't make the list here, and while I'm on teh subject everybody needs to head over to dasouth.com right now and check out his new single! Although I have to say I'm getting a little tired of him repeating himself on EVERY SONG AND FEATURE he puts out, he's a talented dude. Plus like Wade-O said last show, MY PHONE GOT SWAGGGGGGG Obviously T-Dot's album is best, but you can't touch Reach, and that's that. written by Grant Diamond, June 22, 2009
By repeating himself I mean that effect he does on his songs, not the message

cloud nineteen was fierce but I just listened to katalyst & g-notes last week and I was sincerely impressed...can't believe I was sleeping on them cats...BUT I will have to say "The Struggle" b/c J Johnson came with it on "Just Feel Like" and "Believe it or not"

My favorite Album for the 1st half would be The Remnant's "PB&J". Dope "out of the box" christ-centric album. Definitely check it out.

I can't believe I am even on here to be voted on. Yo that new Viktory album is bananas and Identity Crisis is a beast that will be a beast in 10 years. Question when did rebel drop? If it came out in 09 then it should be on here. That G notes album is redunkulous. Its to many right now! What about SEDA? Cats obviously ain't listen to him. No disrespect to anyone else I didn't mention but I either haven't heard the whole album or it just wasn't my style but thanks for your contribution to the kingdom. LOL at Grant album of the year. The year is far from over, we still got DA TRUTH and Tryumf coming out! 09 is a killa for HHH. Love

I CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO COMPARE APPLES AND ORANGES AND GRAPES AND STRAWBERRIES YALL!
But...... IC was a much anticipated but Katalyst is my fav CD of 09. I think THE DASH was the best all around. Music. Content. Theme. Then again The Struggle is deep and real. ... But BRAILLE brought it 15x better on Cloud19 than the IV And the deal of the decade was theBREAX Broken TV DVD for $20 which included 4 albums and live footage. SeDa was probably the sleeper of 09 I'm still waiting to get RICH in the mail....been like 2 months, but its hard to compare all of these albums. so much more to come! ~ Hazakim is the most overlooked group and CD. It's prolly got the most theology too. Scripture + Music = Hip-Hologetics! I'm looking forward to 777 by Tryumf honestly. I believe the highest selling CD of 2009 will be The Big Picture. Da TRUTH reaches more different groups of people than any other Christian Rapper. He's up there with TON3X, Kirk, J.Moss & Tye on the whole crossover level. CHH / CCM written by Dustin, June 24, 2009
Jovan Mackenzy "The Narrow Road." It will be easily the most slept on and hated on album in christian hip hop.

SOMEBODY WAKE ME UP!!!! The only album I have out of that list is theBREAX's DVD!!!
But, allow me to say that CAS METAH's album "Guest Room" is bangin, as well as the CAS METAH & MotionPlus album "SomeBuddies." However, I have a question: was the J.A.Z. & Magellan project (ALIVE) released in the first half of '09? 'Cause the copyright year on the back of the CD is '09, and that was a real good CD. written by liz, June 24, 2009
T-dot just for "Make War".
But Andale's "White Flag" is definitely number 2 for me. written by Grant Diamond, June 25, 2009
All right I know I'm having way too many "favorite albums" at this point but I just gotta rep Hazakim in here now that I've listened through the album a few times. Everyone needs to buy the album now, it's the single deepest HHH album I've ever listened to, I go to a well known Christian college, I'm studying theology, and I still found myself crazy edified by this album and learned a bunch of new stuff. Plus the Jewish sound is totally unique and they're great lyricists/storytellers.
I'd get the album just to hear Stephen the Levites feature, Wadeo played it last week, and I can't wait till he drops his next. Long story short cop the album, now! written by Dustin, June 25, 2009
First off we should not be comparing ones works with another. Could you imagine if we had awards for who had the best sermon series this year, John MacArthur, Paul Washer, John Piper, etc?
Second if yall want truth, not just some theology or doctrine, but just truth broken down in lamens terms. You really want to know God, you really want to know about entering the narrow gate and walking the narrow road. Then you need to cop Jovan Mackenzy "The Narrow Road." go to my myspace.com/jovanmackenzy and check out some of his songs on there. You can also find some videos of his songs on you tube. He posted up the songs "For Granted" and "I'm Gone" on videos on you tube. You can also go to my myspace for a blog with the videos, the tracklist, and the paypal link to buy it. My myspace is myspace.com/manofdestiny The Narrow Road is comming soon God willing on Itunes, etc. written by tDECiPHA, June 26, 2009
I Loved this album, truly.. Big Ups K....now I don't think it was THE BEST best of 09' only because I prefer a certain type of music, not because he's not a good rapper. I just prefer a more hype album...But to me it touched on more topics left out and unheard today. I hear a lot of christian artists saying "my Jesus my Jesus" and that makes a good song, but it's like they heard a sermon and made a song out of what they heard from pastor. That only goes so far, when you aren't systematically working your way through scripture.
I appreciate the sarcasm, in the album, the truth laced within it, and the idea behind the whole thing. DIE, to live. Grace and Peace to Katalyst, and anyone who loves to live the truth. -Decipha written by Dustin, June 27, 2009
I noticed that after I commented, thanks for pointing that out.

Braille and S1 killed it! If you aren't up on Braille this dude is gettin it in, he's on NBA 09 and playin to bars sharin with people, he has compassion and eats his humble pie. My fav this year yet! Tedashii's is my other fav, they're styles are totally different, but seein God's heart of worship exemplified in some tracks (Tedashii-All I need, Gotta believe Braille-stay together, broken heart) as well as some BOLD Bangers like T-dot's Make War, I'ma Believer, 26's and Braille's- Fill it in, From the Pulpit, Hardrock.

Jovan Mackenzys' "Narrow Road" album is something you won't hear from most christian rap artist today. Why? 1. he brings the uncompromising truth of the gospel to the hearers 2. regardless of his platform he won't sugar-coat the message in order to sell records or become popular 3. he touches on the disease that is plaguing many of american churches which is the heretical teaching of earthly prosperity equals godliness which is contrary to what Jesus and the apostles taught 4. true christianity verse the counterfeit christian.
What I got from the album in total Jovan is trying to convey in his music for us as christians and professing christians is to examine ourselves, our lives against scripture always 2 cor 13:5 and looking unto our Lord and Savior heb. 12:2, to protect ourselves from being deceived by false teachers 1 tim 4, 2 pet 2, to know God for ourselves through His word 2 tim 3:16. This album brings conviction, is what we all need so we will repent and turn to Christ. It is encouraging as well, it has blessed my family and I. I want to encourage you all who call yourselves christians to check out this faithful brother in the Lord and see what i'm talking about, no he is not tedashii, da truth, or lecrae, but he is faithful and he lives and breathes for the Lord and seeks only to honor Him. with that said, i know a lot of you people who call yourselves christians show favoritism among artist so i'll leave you with the word of God -James 2:1-5, 8-9 (NLT) My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others? 2 For example, suppose someone comes into your meeting dressed in fancy clothes and expensive jewelry, and another comes in who is poor and dressed in dirty clothes. 3 If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one, “You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor”—well, 4 doesn’t this discrimination show that your judgments are guided by evil motives? 5 Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn’t God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren’t they the ones who will inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him? 8 Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 9 But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law. Write comment
